Sugar House

Jersey City

Adaptive-Reuse Residential

Originally a sugar warehouse for the Colgate Company, this 1887 brick and steel structure was converted into 64 high end water view condominiums. Two and a half stories were added to this turn-of-the-century building to create one of Jersey City’s most desirable living environments. When the original ten foot high vaulted ceilings were restored, hardwood floors added throughout with full tumbled marble master bath, it slated “The Sugarhouse” as Jersey City’s first million dollar condo. The project helped ignite the comeback of the desired urban lifestyle with its five luxury floors, 67 below grade parking spaces, 2,500 sf fitness center, a 25,000 sf common area rear garden roof terrace and the re-introduction of the now popular French balcony.
